Platinum Medaka Rice fish

The Platinum Medaka Ricefish (Oryzias latipes) is a stunning – celebrated for its brilliant, pearlescent white sheen that reflects light like a precious metal. Growing up to 3.5 cm long, they are easy to  care for and great for beginners. Their ablility to thrive in a wide range of temperatures makes them suitable for both aquariums and outdoor patio ponds.

They are social and active, so keep them in groups of at least six. They are incredibly adaptable to water parameters, handling a pH from 7.0–8.5 and varying hardness with ease.They are primarily surface dwellers, they prefer floating or very slow-sinking foods that stay at the top of the water column.

Their favourite diet includes crushed flakes, micro-pellets, and small live foods like baby brine shrimp. For those interested in breeding, Medakas are among the easiest fish to spawn, often carrying their eggs on their bellies before depositing them into floating plants or spawning mops.
