The Amazon Sword “Tropica” (Echinodorus ‘Tropica’) is a stunning, compact cultivar specifically bred to provide the lush look of a traditional sword plant without the overwhelming size. Reaching a manageable height of 10–20 cm, this variety is an ideal midground centerpiece.
Prioritise its extensive root system, we strongly suggest burying it in a nutrient-rich substrate supplemented with high-quality root tabs. This sword is a “heavy root feeder” that draws its strength from the soil. It handles a stable pH range of 6.5–7.5 and thrives best under moderate lighting, which helps maintain its dense, rosette growth pattern and prevents the plant from stretching toward the surface.
Avoid placing this plant in tanks with very thin or nutrient-deficient sand, as its growth will quickly stall without proper fertilisation at the root base. Because its broad, sturdy leaves offer excellent sanctuary for shy fish and a natural spawning site for egg-layers, try dosing an iron-rich supplement into the substrate regularly.
