PLEASE NOTE WE KEEP OUR KILLI’S IN R.O WATER , THAT IS REMINERALIZED. OUR KILLIFISH DO NOT LIKE THE USUAL TAP WATER , since they do not tolerate our South African municipal CaC03 carbonates as part of our “KH” perimetres very well. Our state uses lower grade minerals, and our Imported Killifish have been kept in RO water overseas with minerals, so if you do not have an RO system at home, best is to run your tank two thirds R.O bought from a store and one third Tap water, we do it here and works well for the Killis. What a beautiful “nano fish” type this is! The tail looks like rocket flames, hence the name. Killifish are top dwellers mostly, but will dwell in the mid range of of your tank as well. They need hiding spaces like moss, little dense planted spots to sleep in or breed in / feel safe in. They are easy to keep, provided the water husbandry is correct.
They are quite peaceful and they currently consume our smallest dry foods like Micro pellets, Hikari First bites, but their favourite for optimal health is brine shrimp. At our farm we have loads of baby brine shrimp, and the Killis go for this first. Live food is perfect.
Notorious for their short lifespan, these Killi’s live max 6 months or so after purchase, however using RO water instead of Tap water lengthens their life time.
