R135.00
Hillstream loaches are small, elongated fish with a somewhat flattened, sucker-like body that helps them cling to rocks and substrate in fast-moving water.
They are primarily herbivores and detritivores, feeding on algae, biofilm, and organic matter that grows on rocks. In captivity, they can be fed algae wafers, blanched vegetables, and other plant-based foods.
Hillstream loaches do well in peaceful community tanks with other species that can tolerate similar conditions. They are often kept with other fish that enjoy strong currents, such as certain species of tetras or barbs.
They require a well-established aquarium with strong water movement, mimicking the conditions of their natural habitat. A high-flow filter or a powerhead is essential for creating the right environment.
Also be careful of high Nitrates – Hillstream Loaches don’t like high NO3 levels!
