The Lemon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis) is translucent yellow with brilliant “neon” accents on their anal and dorsal fins, once they settle into a well-maintained home aquarium. Growing to approximately 4–5 cm , they are hardy and anexcellent choice for beginners.
To see the Lemon Tetra at its best, it should be kept in a school of at least 6 to 1o. In larger groups, they become much bolder. They are incredibly peaceful and make perfect tank mates for Corydoras or other small tetras, and they will not bother your shrimp.
They are highly adaptable but truly shine in a planted aquarium with a dark substrate, which provides a beautiful contrast to their golden colouration. They prefer a pH of 6.0–7.5 and slightly soft to moderate water. Because they are active swimmers that occupy the middle of the water column, they appreciate a mix of dense planting for security and open space for schooling. They will thrive on a varied diet of high-quality flakes, micro-pellets, and occasional treats of frozen daphnia or brine shrimp.
