The Red Queen Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is one of the most vibrant and regal colour strains of guppies available. Growing to approximately 3–5 cm (1.5–2 inches) in length, they are the perfect centerpiece for nano tanks and large community setups alike.
While the standard rule for guppies is to keep at least three, they are much more active and entertaining in groups of 6 to 10. They are incredibly hardy and adaptable, thriving in a pH range of 7.0–8.5 and preferring moderate to hard water (GH), which supports their overall health and fin development.
When choosing tank mates for your male Red Queen guppy, avoid any aggressive “fin-nippers” like Tiger Barbs that might be tempted by the Red Queen’s long, delicate tail. They get along famously with peaceful species like Corydoras, snails, and other small community fish. These guppies are enegetic, curious and always the first to the top at mealtime. To keep their royal red pigment as deep as possible, provide a varied diet
