The Gold Guppy females (Poecilia reticulata) are a shimmering yellow-gold hue with a light metallic sheen. Growing to about 5 cm and are great top to mid swimmers for any aquarium. Note this is the Gold Guppy not German, not 24K variation.
These fish are highly curiosity and active, spending their time exploring every level of the aquarium. While they can be kept in small numbers, they truly shine when kept in a group. If you are keeping a mixed-sex group, a ratio of two females for every one male is recommended to ensure the females aren’t overwhelmed by the males’ constant courting displays.
Gold Guppy females are very hardy and can adapt to a wide range of water conditions, preferable a pH of 7.0–8.5 and appreciate slightly harder water, which helps maintain their health and fin quality. They are peaceful community fish. When it comes to food, they are not picky at all. They will enthusiastically accept tropical flakes, micro-pellets, and frozen treats.
