The female Blue Tail Guppy is a graceful and active staple of the aquarium hobby. While male guppies are often prized for their intensity, these females offer a subtle elegance with their larger, silvery-grey bodies and fan-shaped tails. The Blue Tail Guppy shimmers with iridescent blues. Guppies are one of thee most widely recognised fish in the world due to their incredible adaptability and peaceful nature – and livebearers!
Guppies are highly social group fish, and while the standard rule for the Blue Tail Guppy is at least six, they are much more active and confident in larger schools of 10 to 12. If you are keeping them in a mixed-sex tank, we recommend a ratio of two females for every one male to ensure a peaceful environment. They are exceptionally hardy and can handle a wide range of water conditions, though they are at their best in a pH between 7.0–8.5 and prefer moderate to hard water.
They are curious and active, they will explore every level of the tank, though they are often seen patrolling the surface. They are enthusiastic eaters and thrive on a varied diet of flakes, micro-pellets, and frozen treats like brine shrimp.
