The Purple Half-moon Betta Fish (Betta splendens) is distinguished by its purple body and red and blue streaked tail and fins that fan out to a full 180 degrees. Reaching an adult size of 6–7 cm,  Originally from the shallow, warm waters of Southeast Asia, they bring a visually engaging element to the mid-to-upper levels of the aquarium.

The Purple Half-moon Betta Fish are best kept alone, but we strongly suggest a tank of at least 20 litres with a low-flow filter to protect their delicate, heavy fins. While they are sold in small bowls, but they need a heated and filtered environment to maintain their vibrant health and active personality. They are remarkably hardy and handle a pH range of 6.5–7.5, but they truly thrive in warm, stable conditions.

Avoid housing your Purple half-moon betta fish tank mates that are known fin nippers, which may damage the Betta fiash’s spectacular tail. Since they are surface-oriented insectivores with a labyrinth organ that allows them to breathe air, feed  them with floating pellets that don’t sink too quickly. Their favourite meals include frozen or live bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.
