The White Half-moon Betta Fish (Betta splendens) is distinguished by its completely white and an expansive tail that fans out to a full 180 degrees. Reaching an adult size of 6–7 cm, Originally from the shallow, warm waters of Southeast Asia, they are an eye catching addition to the mid-to-upper levels of the aquarium.
The White Half-moon Betta Fish are best kept alone, but we strongly suggest a tank of at least 20 litres with a low-flow filter to protect their delicate, heavy fins. While they are sold in small bowls, they need a heated and filtered environment to maintain their vibrant health and active personality. They are remarkably hardy and handle a pH range of 6.5–7.5, but they truly thrive in warm, stable conditions.
Avoid any tank mates with long fins or “nippy” tendencies which may damage the spectacular tail of the white half-moon betta fish. Since they are surface-oriented insectivores with a labyrinth organ that allows them to breathe air, feed them floating pellets that won’t sink too quickly. Their favourite meals are frozen or live bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.
