Turquoise discus 5-6cm lower grade

Turquoise discus slightly lower grade. Although Nelize focuses on bringing in the best quality discus possible, it sometimes happens that they send us slightly lower grade. Still a beautiful fish, but Nelize cannot sell them as full grade and will always focus on honesty and integrity and try to be as transparent as possible with her discus family.

The average aquarist would not worry too much about these details, as these discus still look beautiful – but as a former discus breeder Nelize knows the importance of certain visual cues to herself and to many others. Some people want to buy high good grade discus.

We also understand that discus are expensive, and do not wish to keep the opportunity and joy away of keeping discus, from those individuals that have a tight budget.

So the lower grade discus is still healthy, but the shape is not entirely round, or the eye may be bigger in the eye-to-body ratio, the fish may not grow to 12-15cm but let’s say they will reach 8-10cm easily with beautiful colouration. The discus may live up to 5 years but not longer.

We keep our discus in softer tap water conditions with a PH of around 7 or so. We deworm our discus upon arrival for any nematodes, flukes, capillaria or potential flagellates that may cause fish harm.
