Black Ramirezi look simply adorable with their spiky dorsal fins! They can live in small schools or pairs. Rams can be one of the few tank mates for discus fish. They can become semi-aggressive towards each other. They may also become aggressive towards other fish when they form a breeding pair.
The black ramirezi is a great mid dwelling fish and also centre piece fishes. They have cichlid behaviour without becoming overly large. Rams like softer water environments and their unique darting movements is just beautiful to see. A really different fish in a community tank and they are interesting to watch too – a great addition to community tanks with other smaller fishes.
Discus and angels can go with ramirezi, I would not recommend ramirezi with shrimp tanks.
