Dwarf Emerald Micro Rasbora

The Dwarf Emerald Micro Rasbora (Danio erythromicron) is one of the most stunning nano fish in the freshwater hobby, with emerald-green vertical bars shimmering over a copper-pink body—all packed into a fish that tops out at just 2.5 cm. Native to the high-altitude waters of Lake Inle in Myanmar and often considered a sister species to the Galaxy Rasbora, they are shy at first, but in a well-planted tank they settle in and their display is genuinely captivating.

A school of 10 Dwarf Emerald Micro Rasboras is the minimum, but 12 or more is where they come fully alive: more confident, more active, and considerably more striking in number. Unlike many soft-water nano fish, they actually prefer slightly harder, alkaline water (pH 7.0–8.0) consistent with their lake origins, making them a great fit for hobbyists with harder tap water. Dense planting and plenty of moss are essential for them to feel secure enough to display properly.

Keep tank mates small and peaceful; anything large or boisterous will push them straight into hiding. They graze cautiously in the lower-to-middle column, so slow-sinking micro-foods work best: crushed flakes, baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and micro-pellets sized for their tiny mouths.
