The Red Cap Koi or Red Cap Kohaku Guppy is a stunning color variant of the classic guppy (Poecilia reticulata), bred to mimic the elegant look of Kohaku Koi. Males are particularly striking, featuring a shimmering pearlescent white body topped with a vivid red “cap” on the head and a matching red tail. Growing to about 3–5 cm, these bright fish stand out beautifully against green aquarium plants.
The Red cap koi Guppy is a highly social and active fish. While they can live in smaller groups, we recommend keeping at least 3 to 6 together. Unlike many other tropical fish, they prefer slightly harder water and are very adaptable, thriving in a pH range of 7.0–8.5. They are incredibly hardy, making them an excellent choice for both beginners and seasoned aquarists.
TheRed cap koi guppy gets along well with most community tank mates like corydoras, small tetras, and peaceful shrimp. They are enthusiastic eaters and not picky at all, they will happily accept high-quality flakes, micro-pellets, and freeze-dried or frozen treats like brine shrimp. Guppies have small mouths, so feeding small amounts twice a day is the best way to keep them healthy and vibrant.
