Blue Cherry Shrimp

Blue Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) are an affordable way to bring cool, calming blue tones into a planted or nano aquarium, tones that pop beautifully against green plants and light substrate. Hand-sorted from our breeding colonies, colour coverage may be lighter or less uniform than our Blue Dreams, but they’re healthy, active shrimp that bring genuine colour to a well-planted setup. Ours range from 1–1.5 cm at sale and grow to 2.5–3 cm.

All our Neocaridina are kept at a TDS of 180–220 and 22°C, fully conditioned to South African tap water and easy to acclimate. Start with at least ten, they’re a genuinely social species that forages more confidently and displays more visibly the larger the group. Blue Cherry Shrimp handle a pH of 6.5–8.0 and appreciate moderate to high GH to support healthy moulting and exoskeleton development.

Avoid large or curious fish that may pick at them. As natural scavengers they’ll work every surface in the tank and respond well to sinking shrimp pellets, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables like spinach to supplement their grazing. The Blue Cherry Shrimp are a great, accessible entry into blue Neocaridina for hobbyists across South Africa.
