Yellow Cherry Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) are a cheerful, easy-going addition to any nano fish or planted aquarium/aquascape, their warm golden-yellow bodies catching the light as they forage across every surface with the tireless enthusiasm that makes Neocaridina so enjoyable to keep. These are hand-sorted culls from our breeding colonies, so colour coverage may be lighter or patchier than our premium Goldenbacks, but they’re healthy, active shrimp at an accessible price point. Ours range from 1–1.5 cm at sale and grow to around 2.5–3 cm.
We keep all our Neocaridina at a TDS of 180–220 and 22°C – fully conditioned to South African tap water and straightforward to acclimate. Start with at least ten; they’re visibly bolder, more active, and more naturally behaved in numbers, handling a pH of 6.5–8.0 with moderate to high GH essential for healthy moulting and strong exoskeletons.
Keep them with small, peaceful tank mates only – anything with a big mouth is a genuine risk. They’ll graze biofilm and algae naturally and respond well to sinking shrimp pellets and blanched vegetables. If you’re looking to buy Yellow Cherry Shrimp in South Africa, ours are locally conditioned and ready to settle in quickly.
